The PharmaSea project, funded by the European Union Framework Programme 7 (FP7), represents a model of marine biodiscovery pipeline within which existing challenges hampering R&D in marine biodiscovery are addressed.
Within the PharmaSea project, one of the work packages (WP6) focuses on the legal and policy bottlenecks relevant to the sampling and utilization of marine biological resources.
In this context a survey is currently being carried out to obtain information on how biological material from the marine environment is obtained and used in R&D. The results of this survey will be used to:
• develop tools which will support scientists in navigating the legal framework governing sampling and / or in using marine genetic resources for R&D.
• inform policy in relation to developing regulations governing the sampling and use of these resources in R&D.
If you are active in any aspect or stage of marine biodiscovery, please answer to the survey until 20th February here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NJXTGG9
Thank you for participating!
